Holston Mountain Artisans Co-op

A peaceful and historic town, Abingdon Virginia represents the color and heritage of the mountains that surrounds us. The Holston River lazily winds around us, and nestled at the base of the Appalachian Mountains, Abingdon offers an opportunity to slow down and enjoy the leisurely grace and unhurried pace of its residents and shoppes. Brick sidewalks encourage strolling past historic buildings, unique shops and our restaurants offer taste of local dining and creative chefs.

Holston Mountain Arts and Crafts Co-op proudly represents the spirit and heritage of the Appalachian Mountains. The members of our cooperative extend through Southwest Virginia, Northwestern North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee.

A distinct difference in seasons brings forth an invigorating atmosphere for our artists, giving them ever-changing inspiration for their creations. Fall brings about an explosion of color with autumn leaves, winter coats in a blanket of white bliss. Spring is a time of renewal, offering fresh green spikes of new growth. Summer brings a lavish outburst of green, as our fields and yards grow thick grass and the trees offer their leaves up to the sunshine.

A certain pride that shows in our Craftsman works, each piece touched and envisioned individually. We create a product that reflects the integrity and purity of a hand-touched, individual work of art that is uniquely reflected of the mountain community in which we live and love.

In 1971, our founding members joined together to offer local artists within a 50 mile radius a place to show their work. Each of our artisans are juried in by our selection board comprised exclusively of fellow members. Members are true craftsmen, with a combined knowledge learned from previous generations, sought after experience from other craftsman, and an appreciation of quality and skilled work.

Come visit with us and experience true old fashioned mountain hospitality.
